Session One
Magic as Theater & The Power of Story
• The Interactive Fourth Wall: Why magic is a unique participatory theater where the audience is a character within the story, not just an observer.
• Plot Structure: Mastering Exposition, Rising Action, Crisis, Climax, and Denouement in every routine. Why conflict is your friend.
• Creative Techniques: Hands-on exercise to create original stories by connecting magic effects with non-magic passions.
• The Body as Instrument: Physical and vocal warm-ups to ensure “technical mastery” during the performance.
Session Two
Acting Techniques for the Modern Magic
• Keys to Character: Practical exercises in mirroring, centering, and motivation to build rapport and believability.
• “Making Bigger Choices”: Hands-on work on using voice, movement, and silence to direct focus and amplify emotion.
Session Three
Putting It All Together: Show Structure
• Designing the Experience: Using the AIDAS formula (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action, Success) to structure your set.
• Production Synthesis: Coordinating tech (lights, sound, and costumes) to support your “through line”.
• Case Study Execution: “Putting it all together” with a step-by-step breakdown of the “Three Strands” technique.
